Etched Carnelian beads are crafted by drawing patterns using natron, an extract from plants, on carnelian stones and then baking them at a low temperature of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. These beads have been unearthed in ruins across Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, but they are believed to have been made in the Indus Valley and transported via land and sea routes.
