Chevron beads are a unique technique invented in the late 1400s by Maria Barovier on the island of Murano, Italy. While Venetian bead techniques often adapt ancient methods, the chevron technique is exclusive to Venice. Chevron beads can have up to 10 layers and are predominantly found in blue, with red, green, and black being rare and highly prized. This technique later spread to the Netherlands. The term 'chevron' refers to their zigzag pattern, and they are also known as star beads or rosetta beads.
