Does this come with clear coat protection?

The panel ships in raw carbon fiber. We recommend applying a UV-protective clear coat finish to preserve the weave color and prevent yellowing over time. Sand and prep the surface before applying your chosen clear coat for best adhesion and longevity.

Should I seal the edges where the panel meets the body?

Yes. Carbon fiber edges are exposed at the seams and mounting points. Use a quality automotive sealant or weatherstripping along those edges to prevent water intrusion and protect the composite from moisture damage during washing or rain.

How does real carbon fiber compare to fiberglass for a trunk?

Real carbon fiber is stiffer, lighter, and more durable than fiberglass under flex. It resists cracking better over time and maintains structural integrity longer, especially on panels that see repeated opening and closing cycles.
