I have so much to learn about textiles and weaving traditions, but I do think I am pretty good at recognizing beautiful pieces. This one is certainly that, finely woven of high quality cotton with a finish that gives it the feel of raw silk. The ground is predominately black, with an aubergine border and an array of patterns in yellow, white, green, blue and red--the same on either side of the center. A really elegant piece, at 68" long and 27" wide, not including fringe, this would make a spectacular table runner, or a fantastic wrap to wear with a little black dress on an evening out, or just to throw over the shoulders on a cool spring or fall evening sitting outside.

The piece is in excellent condition.
