Hawaiian Isle Resort Motel stood along Collins Avenue in Miami Beach during the 1950s Polynesian craze that swept American leisure culture. Tiki lounges and tropical themed motels defined an era when escapism was built into the architecture itself. Places like this gave postwar travelers a taste of paradise without ever leaving Florida. Part of our Vintage Tiki collection, celebrating the defunct golden era bars of yesteryear.
The Details:
Green tropical script reads "Hawaiian Isle" with tiki totem figures carved into the letters "H" and "I," depicted in blue with Polynesian tribal patterns and carved faces. Dark blue serif text below reads "RESORT MOTEL" followed by "17601 COLLINS AVE." and "MIAMI BEACH, FLA." in all-caps lettering.
