His Songs and Sayings

A collection of African American folktales, animal stories, and plantation songs framed through the voice of Uncle Remus, an elderly formerly enslaved man. The most famous stories feature Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and other animal tricksters who outwit stronger foes through cleverness, capturing themes of survival, humor, and resistance. The book also includes plantation songs, proverbs, and sayings.

First published in 1881, this edition is derived from the original book with 24 black & white illustrations by Frederick S. Church and James H. Moser. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
