The Uranus-M Pro (IMX585) camera, developed by Player One Astronomy, is a state-of-the-art monochrome cooled camera launching in 2025. It features Sony's IMX585 1/1.2” format mono sensor, designed to deliver high-performance imaging with exceptional clarity and sensitivity. With a 2.9μm pixel size, a full well capacity of 47Ke, and a total resolution of 8.3MP (3856x2180), the 12.85mm diagonal sensor is well-suited for deep-sky, solar, lunar, and planetary imaging.

Built on Sony’s STARVIS2 back-illuminated pixel technology, the Uranus-M Pro provides enhanced low-light performance and improved quantum efficiency, making it ideal for astrophotography.
The Uranus-M Pro follows the sleek Ares cooled series design, featuring a lightweight carbon fibre body, a stylish red-and-black colour scheme, and an integrated sensor tilter plate along with an anti-dew PCB board. This ensures a lightweight yet highly functional camera.

Front 3P Tilt Plate (Default): Ideal for general astrophotography, ensuring optimal sensor alignment.
Rear 4P Tilt Plate (Optional): Designed for use with filter wheels, filter drawers, and OAGs, particularly beneficial for RASA users.
Built-in high-density sponge shading pad eliminates light leakage.

With a carbon fibre housing and an optimized structure, the 420g camera is among the lightest cooled cameras available.
Equipped with a dual-stage TEC cooling system, the Uranus-M Pro achieves a Delta-T of 35–40°C, effectively reducing thermal noise for long-exposure astrophotography.
A built-in anti-dew heater prevents condensation on the sensor window, ensuring clear imaging even in humid conditions.
Full Well Capacity: 47Ke, nearly 3.6 times larger than the previous generation IMX485 (13Ke).
Frame Rate: Supports 47 FPS in RAW8 mode, significantly faster than its predecessors.
Non-Amp-Glow Technology: Produces completely dark frames, reducing unwanted noise for high-quality imaging.

Deep-Sky Imaging: Excellent sensitivity for capturing faint nebulae and galaxies.
Solar & Lunar Imaging: The 1/1.2” sensor captures the full disk of the Sun and Moon with short focal-length telescopes.
Planetary Imaging: High frame rate enables detailed captures of planets like Jupiter and Saturn.
Mosaic Imaging: Large sensor size enhances efficiency in assembling wide-field mosaics.

A 512MB DDR3 cache ensures stable data transmission, preventing frame drops and significantly reducing readout noise. This also allows smooth operation even on USB 2.0 ports.
Dual Type-C Data Ports for seamless connectivity.
12V DC (5.5×2.1mm) Power Port to power the TEC cooling system.
Can function as an uncooled camera if TEC power is not connected.

Adjustable cooling fan speed and dew heater power settings in the ASCOM driver.
Standard Delta-T: 35-40°C with 100% fan speed and 1% dew heater power.
Recommended Delta-T settings: 30-35°C, 50-70% fan speed, 10% dew heater power.
The Uranus-M Pro features overvoltage and overcurrent protection, ensuring safety and reliability in extended imaging sessions.
HCG Mode activates at Gain 210, maintaining a balance between dynamic range and noise reduction.
Readout Noise: Independently tested, can be analysed using Sharpcap 4 Sensor Analysis.

0.0004 e/s/pix at -20°C.
0.005 e/s/pix at 0°C.
Exhibits a nearly linear dark current response curve, ensuring stable performance.
The quantum efficiency curve, provided by Sony Co., Ltd., highlights the high photon-to-electron conversion efficiency, maximizing sensitivity for astrophotography.

The camera supports a variety of 55mm back focus length (BFL) configurations, making it compatible with multiple optical setups.
